Why shop smaller?

Opting to shop from a small business over a large corporation or fast business can be challenging because you are spending more time finding a business that sells what you’re looking for. It also requires a lot of patience, a virtue that many lacks. For example, technology has provided us with amazing accessibility tools such as Amazon Prime, since we can shop at home and have it delivered within a day or two. Supporting small businesses means you’re supporting your community and the local business owners.

Perks of shopping small:

  • Personalized shopping experience

  • Build a relationship with the business

  • Get extra promotions and offers for being a loyal member of their business

  • You will feel amazing

I would like to justify any shopping from a small business should automatically be guilt-free.

This world moves too fast, there’s so much going on and we need to enjoy the stillness. The best part of small businesses is that they are truly made from love. Whether it’s love for the product/ service or love for self and family. This purchase that you made is paid forward to a family. I like to think of it this way because sometimes it is harder to shop small. Because I actually have to look and put in effort in finding someone that lives in the same city and that I like their work. You usually don’t have to put in that much effort when shopping from big corporations as they use keywords on google and SEO to be the first to pop up.

There is room for everyone to grow but we also have to allow them to. This may seem harsh or could sound a little dependent. But we have to think of what we do for our community.

The experience you get from shopping small is unmatched! Other than the fact they put so much care and consideration into their product, they have the most beautiful packaging that makes you feel like an influencer about to open a PR package. And that is a pretty nice feeling. It feels luxurious, important, and cared for. Sometimes you might even get a couple of extra free items as a first-time customer or as a regular. You may end up building relationships with the owner of the business and that is a great form of networking!
